KAMAKURA - a Band or what?
Kamakura is the project name for British songwriter Nick Calvert and the friends he writes and performs with. Often this is internet based collaboration, which is not only HUGE fun, but also the future of the ‘Music Business’.
One day the behemoth record companies will truly embrace this… One day.
Anyway, until they do there is Songfight. a site where Elton John would get hassle for being way too cheesy, and Bob Dylan harangued for his awful voice. It is a wonderfully cathartic place if you’re in the mood.
Another great site and/or community is Tapegerm. This is a collective of Loop makers and writers who use loops that I joined in August ‘05. Some real characters and more fun to be had. To date I’ve written 10 tracks using loops. You can find them here
